the Lucy carter circle (WMU)

Sharon Church has a long-standing commitment to missions throughout the community and throughout the world. Likewise we are voluntarily affiliated with the Women's Missionary Union (WMU) which is a ladies auxiliary of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). Our local WMU group is called the Lucy Carter Circle.

Below are some of the current Lucy Carter Circle projects.

Appalachian Backpacks
Backpacks for the Appalachian Christmas Outreach will be dedicated on Sunday September 25th. Please bag your purchases and get packing! Inside your backpack, please include the Packing Instructions leaflet with the included items checked. Also, you will need a gender/age tag attached to the backpack. These items are available on the table in the church narthex. The Lucy Carter circle has provided some age-appropriate Bibles and a few other items, also available in the narthex. Feel free to take what is needed to jump-start your backpack packing, while the items are available. All items should fit inside the backpack. Nothing should be attached to the outside except for the age/gender tag.
Red Box Collection
Every Christmas season the WMU gives red boxes to incarcerated women in our NC Prisons who are eligible to receive them. This year we are collecting for 2 prisons. For many it is the only gift they receive so it is very important and meaningful to them. It is often referred to as ‘Cheer in a Box’. Each box includes a Christmas greeting and a Scripture tract. This year the item we are to collect is lotion. Please place 8-to-11-ounce plastic bottles (NO pumps) in the Red Box located in the Narthex.
